Tips for Choosing a Small Pet

  1. The smaller the pet, the greater the chance it can escape. Keep this in mind when choosing a pet for young children.
  2. Like most small pets, Guinea Pigs are generally very easy to care for – but they do require vitamin C supplements, which means one extra step when feeding them.
  3. If you have children under five, keep in mind that they will need to be closely supervised when handling small pets. Most small pets can bite if they’re dropped or hurt in any way.
  4. Do you have a dog or cat? Rodents can quickly become prey and should never be allowed to play with cats or dogs – both of which have also been known to knock over habitats to get to small pets.
